Not only is it known for the Sea of Stars that you enjoy at night, it is also recognized by its white sand beaches, coral coast, cristal clear water and tropical habitat. It is characterized by a fluorescent plankton that is caused by a series of microorganisms called dinoflagellates who then produce the bioluminescence. It causes the coast to glow in lots of little blue and white dots. It is mostly known by its enthralling Sea of Stars because it really looks like a lot of stars thrown at the coast. It consist of a series of coral islands, 1,992 to be exact, grouped in a double chain. A ruined stupa called “Vaadhoo Bodu Havitta” is located on the north-east of the centre of the Island.Important Buddhist remains have been found on this island, including: It has its own dialect of Maldivian, which is considerably different from northern and Mid-Maldivian speech.
